On October 17, 2016, Moorestown Town Council adopted a new ordinance to encourage and support water conservation efforts. This ordinance and the rules and guidelines within it are now in effect. Unlike the Township’s former water conservation ordinance, these rules are in effect 356 days a year.
Below are the most pertinent points residents should be aware of. The entire ordinance (including the map that shows the watering districts) can be found on the Township’s website Here.
These water conservation rules are in effect 365 days per year. The Township’s former water conservation ordinance was only in effect once the Township declared a water conservation emergency.
Every Moorestown property falls into one of four watering districts. These districts are the same districts as the existing trash collection districts. If you are unsure of your district, please see the map identifying the districts on the township’s website.
Each district allows for watering two (2) days per week. Residents and businesses are prohibited (see exemptions below) to water their lawns except for their two designated days. Those days are:
On the days your district is allowed to water, you are limited to watering between the hours of 5:00am – 8:00am and 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
A full list of exemptions are in the full ordinance found on the Township’s website. They include exemptions for watering newly seeded or sodded lawns or landscaping, farms producing harvestable crops, and commercial nurseries.
